A Vision and Commitment

As a retired and very active Dunedin resident, I pledge my full-time dedication to enhancing Dunedin’s Creative Community and quality of life for all residents through:

·        Innovative developments in technology, humanities, arts and culture

·        Preservation of Dunedin’s unique eclectic charm and respect

·        Creative opportunities for responsible business, development and community re-development

·        Unique opportunities for new talent who seek creativity, including creative retirement for a national 'Baby Boomer' population of innovative thinkers

·        A full-service, interactive City website for conducting business online, emergency preparedness, and free WiFi  internet zones for visitors and the community

·        Creative planning and development of affordable/attainable housing for all Dunedin citizens

·        A protection of interests of mobile home residents, Dunedin Causeway Area development concerns, flood control area concerns, and city-wide involvement needs in emerging concerns, through an on-going network of concerned, knowledgeable citizens throughout our community

  • A dedication to enhancing a City Commission commitment to a civil ‘deliberative democracy’ process, where issues are thoughtfully analyzed and discussed on behalf of all Dunedin residents without inter-personal attacks

·        Responsible development and planning of the downtown and coastal waterways (and other sensitive areas), aided by high-tech visualization presentations of the ‘virtual reality’ of the total look of the proposed project and its adjacent proportions, for all to review…and with assurances that the final product looks like the approved plan

·        A deep commitment to Dunedin as an inclusive community, where diversity is a treasured resource for all citizens to celebrate

·        A commitment to ongoing, proactive conflict-resolution strategies which further  a ‘win-win’ outcome for all parties and for our community’s richness

Personal Background:

·        Served the public for over 30 years as a university professor (Philosophy and Ethics) and academic community administrator (College Dean of Arts and Sciences; Department Head); effective leadership style; major budget oversight and accountability; university system leader and planner

·        Drafted Dunedin’s Code of Core Values for Civility and Ethics

·        Co-founder of Valdosta State University (GA) Center for Professional and Applied Ethics (continue as Professor Emeritus with the University)

·        Trained and Certified Mediator on Negotiation and Conflict Resolution, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)

·        Served on two Dunedin advisory committees and on the City Task Force for Inclusion

·        Member, Dunedin Chamber of Commerce Government and Affairs Committee; Dunedin Historical Society; Dunedin Fine Art Center; Dunedin Council of Organizations

“It’s All About You.”
